Sometimes the world feels like it's moving just a little too fast.

There are meals to plan, laundry to fold, jobs to do, people to care for, appointments to keep, and somehow we're expected to squeeze hobbies into whatever scraps of time are left over. Life rarely slows down on its own.

For me, quilting became the place where it finally did.

There is something about choosing fabric, measuring and cutting pattern pieces, pressing a block, or hearing the quiet hum of a sewing machine that settles a busy mind. Problems don't disappear, but they become a little quieter. One stitch leads to another, and before long, an hour has slipped by without the constant mental checklist that usually follows us everywhere.

That's why this website exists.

Not because the world needed another quilting tutorial.

There are already talented teachers creating wonderful videos and classes. I learn from them too.

Instead, Chris Cross Quilts & More is becoming the place where I do the homework for you.

I watch the tutorials.

I compare the rulers.

I read the books.

I test the tools.

I research quilting history.

I spend far too much time wandering through quilt shops—online and in person—and I consider that time well spent.

Then I come back here and share what I honestly think is worth your time, your money, and your attention.

If a tutorial explains something beautifully, I'll tell you.

If a book deserves a permanent place on your shelf, I'll recommend it.

If a tool isn't worth buying, I'll probably tell you that too.

My goal isn't to recreate what others have already done well. My goal is to help you find the very best quilting resources while sharing my own experiences along the way.

Because we're all busy, and none of us have time to watch twenty videos just to figure out which one actually answers the question.

A Little About Me

I'm Chris.

I'm a wife, a mom to six grown children, and a grandmother to seven amazing grandchildren. My family has always been the center of my world, and like so many women, I've spent years balancing work, home, responsibilities, and the people I love.

By profession, I'm a nurse practitioner. Research, education, and helping people make informed decisions have been part of my career for decades, and it turns out those same instincts followed me right into my sewing room.

I'm also a self-taught quilter who has learned plenty through trial and error—sometimes more error than trial.

I've trimmed blocks too small.

I've sewn pieces on upside down.

I've discovered that a rotary cutter can become surprisingly exciting when you're not paying attention.

I've learned that fabric collections somehow multiply while nobody is looking.

I've accepted that if I leave a quilt unattended for more than five minutes, one of my cats will almost certainly decide it belongs to them.

Every quilt has taught me something, even the ones that made me question my life choices halfway through.

These days, quilting is where my love of learning, creating, history, and slowing life down all come together. If something can help another quilter enjoy the craft a little more—or avoid one of the mistakes I've already made—I'm happy to share it.
