Saturday Stitch Report #8

A Bag, a Block, and a Question

It has been a busy stretch around here. Family has needed my time, and I’ve been working on posts for my clinic, Inspired Life Wellness Clinic at www.inspired-lifewellness.com. If you’d like to follow along with that writing, you can find the clinic online. The quilting page and blog have been quieter.

I did manage to finish a few things.

The latest block for the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery quilt is pieced and ready for the growing collection. I also made a bag using a pattern I created as I went. The blue and cream fabrics and patchwork came together into a bag I’m happy with, even though the pattern itself exists only as a vague series of decisions in my memory.

Did I write any of it down? Of course not. I winged it.

So if I ever want to make this bag again, I’ll either have to reconstruct the process from the finished one or accept that the next version will be a completely different bag with the same general ambitions.

Lately, I’ve also been questioning whether I should keep the page and blog going. There are so many good quilting blogs out there. Many share tutorials, detailed instructions, and videos. I don’t feel especially qualified to talk about quilting in that way, and I don’t have the time right now to make videos or build a library of tutorials.

I’m still figuring out what I want this space to be—and whether I have the time and energy to keep tending it. I don’t have a decision to announce today. For now, I have a finished block, an improvised bag, and a reminder to write down the next pattern before I forget how I made it.

Have a great week and happy stitching!

Chris Cross Quilts .

Hi, I'm Chris, and a few years ago I decided to learn how to sew. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a full-blown fabric addiction. Four years later, I'm still collecting fabric faster than I can use it, dreaming up new projects, and finding excuses to buy "just one more" sewing notion.

Chris Cross Quilts and More was created to share that journey with others. Whether you're brand new to sewing, looking to improve your quilting skills, or simply love all things fabric, you'll find tutorials, tips, projects, encouragement, and probably a few stories about things that didn't go quite according to plan.

I believe sewing should be fun, approachable, and free from perfectionism. Mistakes happen. Seams get ripped out. Bobbins run empty at the worst possible moment. That's all part of the adventure.

My goal is to help others discover the joy of creating something with their own two hands while preserving the traditions and stories that make quilting and sewing so special.

So grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and let's stitch together comfort, memories, and sew much more.
