Sewing Machines & Accessories

A good sewing machine can make quilting and sewing considerably more enjoyable, but finding the right machine—and understanding which accessories are actually useful—can be overwhelming.

Over the years, I've learned that different machines have different strengths. Some are better suited to everyday sewing, while others excel at precision piecing, quilting, or handling heavier projects.

Here you'll find the sewing machines and accessories I personally use, along with my observations about their features, limitations, and the jobs I reach for them to accomplish.

Sewing Machines

Juki 2010Q - this is MY FAVORITE - straight stitch only, but a workhorse for bags and piecing (Sewing Machines Plus)

Juki HZL F600 - this is also my favorite, but an electronic machine, lots of fancy stitches, the one I use for all my other sewing, appliqué and embroidery. (Sewing Machines Plus)

Arrow Sewing Chair - the BEST sewing chair in my opinion. I can sit in this for hours, and often do. (Sewing Machines Plus)

Juki TL-2010Q - see above note, same machine, different retailer. (Sewing Parts Online)

Juki HZL-F600 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine (Amazon)

SINGER C5980Q Patchwork Plus (Amazon) - If you are new to sewing and not sure you’ll stick with it, this is a good machine, minimal investment and recommended primarily because of its top loading bobbin feature.

And… I dream of this, with the automation of course!! (or any long arm for that matter) I have the Cutie Breeze frame and the Grace Little Rebel, but I’m positive it’s not the same.
